TAKE ACTION: US 2020 Census Count

Census figures will determine how the government spends $800 billion in federal funding. The 2010 Census missed more than two million children under 5, costing states $550 million per year in lost federal funding for the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), Medicaid, foster care, adoption and child care services. That number of missed children is expected to double in 2020.

Unfortunately, the Census Bureau has made the decision to end all counting efforts on September 30, 2020 – one month earlier than previously announced. You can read more about this decision here.

How you can help: We’ve written a sample letter asking Dr. Steven Dillingham, Director of the United States Census Bureau, to reconsider the plan to end the census count early.

Feel free to customize with information for your own organization and send it via snail mail (address on letter) or email.
